Birthplace of kamasutra: INDIA
It is well known that India‘s exceptionally brilliant scholar Professor Aryabhatta discovered the number ‘zero’ several centuries ago.
It is supposed that he must have lived between the first and the sixth centuries of the Christian era. [Gutenberg.org]
As early as 2nd century BC, that is 24 centuries before any study began in US and Europe, What An unparalleled masterly treatise on the ‘Art of Making Love’ was put forth unabashedly in words and pictures
Hardly anything is known about the author. His real name is supposed to be Mallinaga or Mrillana, Vatsyayana being his family name.
By the Indian scholar Professor Vatsayana who himself was a celibate monk.
Many sexual positions and techniques are described to enhance not just the physical joy and intensity of love as most people understand but with an eye for reaching the supreme.
At the close of the work Vatsyayana writes:
“After reading and considering the works of Babhravya and other ancient authors, and thinking over the meaning of the rules given by them, this treatise was composed, according to the precepts of the Holy Writ, for the benefit of the world, by Vatsyayana, while leading the life of a religious student at Benares, and wholly engaged in the contemplation of the Deity. This work is not to be used merely as an instrument for satisfying our desires. A person acquainted with the true principles of this science, who preserves his Dharma (virtue or religious merit), his Artha (worldly wealth) and his Kama (pleasure or sensual gratification), and who has regard to the customs of the people, is sure to obtain the mastery over his senses. In short, an intelligent and knowing person, attending to Dharma and Artha and also to Kama, without becoming the slave of his passions, will obtain success in everything that he may do.”
The ‘Aphorisms on Love,’ by Vatsyayana, contains about one thousand two hundred and fifty slokas or verses, and are divided into parts, parts into chapters, and chapters into paragraphs. The whole consists of seven parts, thirty-six chapters, and sixty-four paragraphs.
Boundless bliss, as defined in the spiritual textbooks of India. This dimension of the ultimate bliss often goes unnoticed. The western scholars are unfamiliar with ‘boundless complete bliss’, which, is defined in Indian spiritual textbooks well studied even today and is a real experience for the dedicated people in India.
Kamasutra: Recent times- INDIA
The Indians lost the import not only of the gorgeous ‘Kamasutra’ in their day-to-day life but also of the other scholarly texts. Invaders from foreign countries caused deplorable economic famine of devastating proportion having fleeced the country of all its riches. Can any one believe that India was one of the richest countries till 2oo years ago? Hence an Indian today mainly focuses on earning for a decent livelihood for himself and his family, that too by ethical means, which is ingrained in him. Recent times – US Europe Until about 100 years ago ‘sex’ was synonymous with sin in Europe. Even when the word ‘sex’ was sacrilegious, scientific studies in human sexuality began in Europe and the US in the 19 the century.
