Saheli Contraceptive Pill : Non hormonal safe once a week oral oc pill.

How does Saheli© (centchroman/ormeloxifene) work as contraceptive?
Saheli is an the only anti-implantation agent approved for clinical use in the world. Though the exact mode of action is not precisely known, we know that Saheli (centchroman/ormeloxifene) causes an asynchrony in the menstrual cycle between ovulation and the development of the uterine lining.
Saheli Contraceptive Pill : By Best Sexologist for Female Mumbai
In clinical trials, it caused
1. ovulation to occur later than it normally would in some women (Singh 2001), but did not affect ovulation in the majority of women, while
2. causing the lining of the uterus to build more slowly.
3. Saheli (Centchroman) speeds the transport of fertilized egg through the fallopian tubes, hence the fertilized ovum travels more quickly than is normal (Singh 2001).
Presumably, combination of these effects creates an environment that is not conducive for implantation of fertilized ovum.
Mechanism of Action of Saheli (centchroman/ormeloxifene)
Saheli Contraceptive Pill _ By Best Sexologist Doctor for Female Mumbai Ashok Koparday
The molecule centchroman offers a unique combination of weak estrogenic and potent anti estrogenic properties. Due to this subtle mix of estrogenic and anti estrogenic action it inhibits the fertilized ovum from nidation and thus prevents pregnancy, but at the same time, it does not appear to disturb the other estrogen effects.
How carefully has Saheli (centchroman/ormeloxifene) been studied?
Use of Saheli (Centchroman) as a contraceptive has been extensively evaluated in more than 2000 women of the reproductive age groups who wanted to space their children. Intensive monitoring by
clinical examination,
hematology and
biochemical tests as well as
laparoscopy and
ultra sonographic examinations of ovaries and uterus have shown the drug to be quite safe.
Saheli: Non hormonal safe once a week oral oc pill.
If Saheli© fails and a baby is born will the baby be normal?
Babies born to use failure cases have shown normal milestones.
Will Saheli© (centchroman/ormeloxifene) cause inability to conceive even when it is stopped?
The contraceptive effect is readily reversible and subsequent pregnancy and its outcome is normal.
Why is Saheli© (centchroman/ormeloxifene) better than other contraceptives?
Saheli: Non hormonal safe once a week oral oc pill.
Saheli (centchroman/ormeloxifene) scores over steroidal contraceptive pills because it does not disturb the endocrine system and the normal ovulatory cycle is maintained. It is extremely significant that Saheli (centchroman/ormeloxifene) does not disturb body’s hormonal system.
